The last couple of years have been an extremely busy time for me with a variety of approvals granted, projects completed and many ongoing projects well underway, not to mention the taking on of new projects; both large and not so large – all are equally important. Contrary to belief, smaller projects are not necessarily always easier than their larger counterparts, and can certainly be more challenging.

Amongst my current ongoing projects, I am now 3 years into a complete renovation and design project of an old Listed farmhouse and associated barns and outbuildings.

Old Forge

Planning and Listed building consent have successfully been granted to develop the property to provide family accommodation in the original farmhouse, a detached annexe; utilising a traditional old stone forge and a specialist training centre to be housed in the stone barns.

However, such a project is not without its issues. Without a doubt, preparation, careful liaison with all parties involved; including Planning and Conservation departments, provision of ecological and other reports, along with knowledge of how to put together such a proposal, go a long way to reaching a successful conclusion with this and any project.

Things are starting to take shape. With the detached annexe, phase I, nearing completion, things are underway to look to commence phase II, development of the barns to create a specialist training centre, later on this year.

For those with a project in mind, large or small, please do not hesitate to get in touch. It is certainly worth discussing the options available to you.
